Hajj from France: register on Nusuk direct
French book Hajj directly on the Nusuk Hajj platform; no agency can issue the visa. Registration, timeline, costs, health documents, embassy and flights, checked against official and national sources.
How Hajj registration works in France
France has no single government Hajj office; French pilgrims typically book through licensed private travel agencies, some historically coordinated with national mosque federations (such as the Grande Mosquée de Paris and other regional federations) that have organized their own group packages, or directly via Saudi Arabia's Nusuk Hajj platform. Agents selling package travel should hold standard French travel-industry licensing (immatriculation Atout France), which gives consumers financial protection if an operator fails. Booking generally opens roughly a year ahead of travel with a deposit followed by installments, and given the size of France's Muslim population, competition for popular group departures, preferred flight dates and closer hotel tiers can be significant, so early registration through a trusted federation or agency is common advice.
France has no state Hajj office. French pilgrims register on Nusuk Hajj and buy a package from a licensed Saudi provider; French agencies and mosque federations can only organise groups around a Nusuk booking.
Step by step
- Create an account on hajj.nusuk.sa when registration opens for the coming season (for Hajj 2026 it opened in autumn 2025) and verify your identity with your passport.
- Compare packages from licensed Saudi service providers inside the platform: camp location in Mina, hotel distance in Makkah and Madinah, transport, and what meals are included. Read our guide to Nusuk package tiers first.
- Pay through the platform. Your Hajj visa, Nusuk card and permits are issued against that booking; no French agency can issue them separately.
- Book your own flights to Jeddah or Madinah for the dates on the package, and get the meningococcal vaccine at least 10 days before you fly.
- If you want help, use a French agency only for flights, preparation classes and group travel, and confirm the Hajj package itself sits in your own Nusuk account.
Typical timeline
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| About 8 to 9 months before Hajj | Nusuk Hajj registration opens; create your account and complete identity checks. |
| 7 to 5 months before | Package sales open in phases; the early-preference phase for eligible pilgrims ran in January 2026. Compare and pay. |
| 4 to 2 months before | Visa and Nusuk card issued against your booking; book flights; vaccinations at least 10 days before departure. |
| Dhul Hijjah | Travel on the package dates; the Ministry publishes cut-off dates for arrivals. |
Illustrative order of events; the authority publishes exact dates each season and they move with the Hijri calendar.
What it costs from France
A single authoritative, currently sourced package price in euros was not found in available reporting, pricing is set independently by each private agent or federation rather than a published national figure. We point prospective pilgrims to compare current agents' published price lists or use our calculator rather than quoting a figure here. Rather than guess, compare current licensed operators' published price lists side by side, since the main cost drivers, hotel distance from the Haram, flight class, and group size, vary more between operators than between years.
The drivers are the same everywhere: camp category in Mina, hotel distance from the Haram in Makkah and Madinah, room sharing, flights from France, and whether meals and internal transport are bundled. See Hajj budgeting and shifting versus non-shifting packages.
Umrah from France while you wait
French citizens are on the Saudi eVisa list (all EU member states are), so you apply on the official portal or Nusuk and can perform Umrah on the eVisa outside the Hajj season. Saudia flies nonstop from Paris Charles de Gaulle, with seasonal Nice flights.
Vaccines and health documents for Hajj and Umrah from France
These are the Saudi Ministry of Health requirements for Umrah travellers in the 1447 H (2026) edition, read for France specifically. The Hajj list is issued separately each season and is normally the same or stricter. Certificates are checked at the airport of departure and on arrival.
| Requirement | What applies to travellers from France |
|---|---|
| Meningococcal (ACYW) vaccine | Required for every pilgrim from every country: conjugate vaccine within 5 years, or polysaccharide within 3 years, given at least 10 days before arrival. |
| Polio | Not required for travellers from France in the 1447 H list. Keep routine immunisation up to date. |
| Yellow fever | Not required for travellers arriving from France. It applies only if you arrive from a listed yellow fever country. |
| COVID-19 | Required only for higher-risk groups (over 65, pregnant, chronic heart, lung or kidney disease, blood disorders, immunodeficiency, cancer, chronic neurological disease): an updated 2025-2026 dose, a completed 2021-2024 primary series, or confirmed infection in 2025. |
| Recommended | Seasonal influenza vaccine; routine immunisations up to date; carry medication in original packaging with a doctor's note. |

Saudi embassy and consulates in France
The Saudi Embassy in France is in Paris. You do not need to visit them for a tourist eVisa or an Umrah visa: both are issued online. The embassy matters for passport problems, document attestation, and visa categories that are not electronic. Opening hours and services are on each mission's page at mofa.gov.sa.
Flying to Jeddah or Madinah from France
Saudia lists scheduled passenger flights from Paris, plus seasonal or pilgrimage-season flights from Nice. Jeddah (King Abdulaziz International) is the gateway for Makkah; Madinah (Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International) suits pilgrims starting in Madinah. Gulf carriers, flynas, flyadeal and national airlines also serve these markets, often at lower fares with one stop.

Mistakes to avoid
- Paying a "Hajj package" to an agent or individual outside Nusuk. For serviced countries the Ministry issues Hajj visas only through the platform, and pilgrims with outside bookings have been refused entry.
- Waiting for prices to fall. Packages sell out in order of popularity, and the cheapest tiers go first.
- Assuming an Umrah or tourist visa can be used for Hajj. It cannot.
- Booking flights before the package is confirmed in your Nusuk account.
Practical tips
- Check that your agent holds standard French travel-industry licensing (Atout France registration)
- Ask whether a mosque federation has an organized group package for your city
- Confirm exactly what's included in the package before paying
- Book early, popular group departures and hotel tiers can fill quickly
- Check the Nusuk Hajj platform directly as an alternative to a private agent
Prepare properly
