What the checklist is

Twenty-three Hajj items in four groups: Ihram and essentials, Documents, Mina and Arafah days, Health. Each item is a tick box. It is deliberately short: the things pilgrims most often forget or get wrong, not everything you might pack.

How saving works

  • Ticks are stored in your browser's local storage under a key for this site and list. Nothing is sent to us, and there is no account.
  • The list is per device and per browser. Ticks on your phone do not appear on your laptop.
  • Clearing site data, private browsing or "clear history" resets the list.
  • Once you have opened the page with signal it is cached by the offline companion, so you can tick items at the airport with no data.
  • To print, use your browser's print command; the boxes print as a plain list.

How to use it

  1. Start with Documents a month out: passport validity, Nusuk Hajj permit and visa printouts, the meningococcal certificate (given at least 10 days before departure), and copies stored separately.
  2. Pack two or more ihram sets; you will wear one for days in Mina.
  3. Health items last, so medication counts match your final dates.
  4. Tick as you pack, not as you plan; an unticked item at the door is the point of the list.

What is not on it, on purpose

Your own medication list and doctor's letter, women's clothing choices (see Hajj for women), the pebble count and stoning schedule, and anything your operator supplies, such as the Nusuk card, tent allocation and meal plan. Check the operator's own list against this one.

Worked example (illustrative)

A couple flying for the full Hajj period ticks the Documents group first and finds the vaccination certificate is dated eight days before departure: too recent for the ten-day rule. They rebook the flight rather than risk the airport check. That is the kind of catch the list exists for.

Common mistakes

  • Scented soap or deodorant used in ihram.
  • Only one set of ihram garments for five days in Mina.
  • Medication in a pill organiser with no labels or prescription.
  • A power bank in checked luggage (airlines require it in hand luggage).
  • Sandals that were never walked in.

When to ask your operator or group leader

Ask what the package includes before you pack: Mina camps differ in bedding, cooling and meals, and the operator knows which. Ask the group leader about the Muzdalifah night and the stoning schedule, which change what goes in the Mina day bag.

Questions pilgrims ask

Can I add my own items?

Not yet; the list is fixed so it stays short. Print it and write extras in the margin, or keep a note in your phone.

Will my ticks survive an update to the site?

Yes. Ticks live in your browser, not in the page, so they survive rebuilds unless you clear site data.

Is there a full packing guide?

Yes: the Hajj packing list explains each item and the alternatives.

Does the checklist know my dates or airline?

No. It is the same list for everyone; airline rules on liquids, power banks and Zamzam allowances are in the airline's own guidance.
