Hajj from Germany: register on Nusuk direct
Germans book Hajj directly on the Nusuk Hajj platform; no agency can issue the visa. Registration, timeline, costs, health documents, embassy and flights, checked against official and national sources.
How Hajj registration works in Germany
Germany has no government Hajj office; German pilgrims typically book through private travel agencies, some organized in cooperation with mosque associations such as DITIB, or directly via Saudi Arabia's Nusuk Hajj platform. Package-selling agents fall under standard German and EU travel-industry consumer protection rules, which give some financial recourse if an operator fails before or during the trip. Booking usually opens roughly a year ahead of travel with a deposit followed by installments, and given Germany's large Turkish- and Arab-heritage Muslim communities, group packages are often organized along community and language lines, with mosque associations sometimes coordinating charter flights or block hotel bookings for their members.
Germany has no state Hajj office; German pilgrims register on Nusuk Hajj and buy a package from a licensed Saudi provider there. Mosque associations can organise groups only around Nusuk bookings.
Step by step
- Create an account on hajj.nusuk.sa when registration opens for the coming season (for Hajj 2026 it opened in autumn 2025) and verify your identity with your passport.
- Compare packages from licensed Saudi service providers inside the platform: camp location in Mina, hotel distance in Makkah and Madinah, transport, and what meals are included. Read our guide to Nusuk package tiers first.
- Pay through the platform. Your Hajj visa, Nusuk card and permits are issued against that booking; no German agency can issue them separately.
- Book your own flights to Jeddah or Madinah for the dates on the package, and get the meningococcal vaccine at least 10 days before you fly.
- If you want help, use a German agency only for flights, preparation classes and group travel, and confirm the Hajj package itself sits in your own Nusuk account.
Typical timeline
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| About 8 to 9 months before Hajj | Nusuk Hajj registration opens; create your account and complete identity checks. |
| 7 to 5 months before | Package sales open in phases; the early-preference phase for eligible pilgrims ran in January 2026. Compare and pay. |
| 4 to 2 months before | Visa and Nusuk card issued against your booking; book flights; vaccinations at least 10 days before departure. |
| Dhul Hijjah | Travel on the package dates; the Ministry publishes cut-off dates for arrivals. |
Illustrative order of events; the authority publishes exact dates each season and they move with the Hijri calendar.
What it costs from Germany
A single authoritative, currently sourced package price in euros was not found in available reporting, pricing is set independently by each private agent or mosque association rather than a published national figure. We point prospective pilgrims to compare current agents' published price lists or use our calculator rather than quoting a figure here. Rather than guess, compare current licensed operators' published price lists side by side, since the main cost drivers, hotel distance from the Haram, flight class, and group size, vary more between operators than between years.
The drivers are the same everywhere: camp category in Mina, hotel distance from the Haram in Makkah and Madinah, room sharing, flights from Germany, and whether meals and internal transport are bundled. See Hajj budgeting and shifting versus non-shifting packages.
Mosque associations and Hajj from Germany
Germany has no state Hajj office. The Hajj visa and the package (camp, hotels, transport between the sites) come only from a licensed Saudi provider inside the Nusuk Hajj platform, in your own account. Mosque associations and German travel companies can organise the parts around it: flights from Frankfurt or Munich (Saudia lists nonstop service from both), preparation classes, a scholar travelling with the group, and group logistics. That is a legitimate and often valuable service, but it is not a Hajj place, so before paying a group organiser check that the Nusuk package is booked under your own login and that the flight seller is properly registered under German and EU travel rules. Compare the Nusuk tier on camp zone, hotel distance and room sharing, and the organiser's fee separately.
Umrah from Germany while you wait
German citizens are on the Saudi eVisa list, so you apply on the official portal or Nusuk and can perform Umrah on the eVisa outside the Hajj season. Saudia flies nonstop from Frankfurt and Munich, and there is a Saudi Consulate-General in Frankfurt as well as the Embassy in Berlin.
Vaccines and health documents for Hajj and Umrah from Germany
These are the Saudi Ministry of Health requirements for Umrah travellers in the 1447 H (2026) edition, read for Germany specifically. The Hajj list is issued separately each season and is normally the same or stricter. Certificates are checked at the airport of departure and on arrival.
| Requirement | What applies to travellers from Germany |
|---|---|
| Meningococcal (ACYW) vaccine | Required for every pilgrim from every country: conjugate vaccine within 5 years, or polysaccharide within 3 years, given at least 10 days before arrival. |
| Polio | Not required for travellers from Germany in the 1447 H list. Keep routine immunisation up to date. |
| Yellow fever | Not required for travellers arriving from Germany. It applies only if you arrive from a listed yellow fever country. |
| COVID-19 | Required only for higher-risk groups (over 65, pregnant, chronic heart, lung or kidney disease, blood disorders, immunodeficiency, cancer, chronic neurological disease): an updated 2025-2026 dose, a completed 2021-2024 primary series, or confirmed infection in 2025. |
| Recommended | Seasonal influenza vaccine; routine immunisations up to date; carry medication in original packaging with a doctor's note. |

Saudi embassy and consulates in Germany
The Saudi Embassy in Germany is in Berlin, with a consular post in Frankfurt (Consulate-General). You do not need to visit them for a tourist eVisa or an Umrah visa: both are issued online. The embassy matters for passport problems, document attestation, and visa categories that are not electronic. Opening hours and services are on each mission's page at mofa.gov.sa.
Flying to Jeddah or Madinah from Germany
Saudia lists scheduled passenger flights from Frankfurt and Munich. Jeddah (King Abdulaziz International) is the gateway for Makkah; Madinah (Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International) suits pilgrims starting in Madinah. Gulf carriers, flynas, flyadeal and national airlines also serve these markets, often at lower fares with one stop.

Mistakes to avoid
- Paying a "Hajj package" to an agent or individual outside Nusuk. For serviced countries the Ministry issues Hajj visas only through the platform, and pilgrims with outside bookings have been refused entry.
- Waiting for prices to fall. Packages sell out in order of popularity, and the cheapest tiers go first.
- Assuming an Umrah or tourist visa can be used for Hajj. It cannot.
- Booking flights before the package is confirmed in your Nusuk account.
Practical tips
- Check that your agent is properly registered under German/EU travel-industry rules
- Ask a mosque association such as DITIB about any organized group package
- Confirm exactly what's included in the package before paying
- Book early, popular community group departures can fill quickly
- Check the Nusuk Hajj platform directly as an alternative to a private agent
