How Hajj registration works in Netherlands

The Netherlands has no government Hajj office; Dutch pilgrims book through private Hajj travel agencies or directly via Saudi Arabia's Nusuk Hajj platform. Agents selling package travel fall under standard Dutch and EU travel-industry consumer protection rules (including bonding schemes such as those run by SGR for package holidays), which give some financial protection if an operator fails. Booking typically opens roughly a year ahead with a deposit and installments. We could not find a specific, currently sourced Dutch national Hajj quota figure in available international reporting, the Netherlands' Muslim-minority population books through the general Nusuk-direct route rather than a fixed national allocation reported in press coverage.

The Netherlands has no state Hajj office. Dutch pilgrims register on Nusuk Hajj and buy a package from a licensed Saudi provider there. If you buy flights or extras through a Dutch travel company, check that it is covered by the SGR travel guarantee fund.

Step by step

  1. Create an account on hajj.nusuk.sa when registration opens for the coming season (for Hajj 2026 it opened in autumn 2025) and verify your identity with your passport.
  2. Compare packages from licensed Saudi service providers inside the platform: camp location in Mina, hotel distance in Makkah and Madinah, transport, and what meals are included. Read our guide to Nusuk package tiers first.
  3. Pay through the platform. Your Hajj visa, Nusuk card and permits are issued against that booking; no Dutch agency can issue them separately.
  4. Book your own flights to Jeddah or Madinah for the dates on the package, and get the meningococcal vaccine at least 10 days before you fly.
  5. If you want help, use a Dutch agency only for flights, preparation classes and group travel, and confirm the Hajj package itself sits in your own Nusuk account.

Typical timeline

WhenWhat happens
About 8 to 9 months before HajjNusuk Hajj registration opens; create your account and complete identity checks.
7 to 5 months beforePackage sales open in phases; the early-preference phase for eligible pilgrims ran in January 2026. Compare and pay.
4 to 2 months beforeVisa and Nusuk card issued against your booking; book flights; vaccinations at least 10 days before departure.
Dhul HijjahTravel on the package dates; the Ministry publishes cut-off dates for arrivals.

Illustrative order of events; the authority publishes exact dates each season and they move with the Hijri calendar.

What it costs from Netherlands

A consistently reported current package price in euros specific to Dutch Hajj agents was not found in available sourcing; costs are generally comparable to other Western European markets. We point prospective pilgrims to a licensed Dutch agent's current price list or our calculator rather than quoting a figure. Rather than guess, compare current licensed operators' published price lists side by side, since the main cost drivers, hotel distance from the Haram, flight class, and group size, vary more between operators than between years.

The drivers are the same everywhere: camp category in Mina, hotel distance from the Haram in Makkah and Madinah, room sharing, flights from Netherlands, and whether meals and internal transport are bundled. See Hajj budgeting and shifting versus non-shifting packages.

Dutch agencies, SGR and what they can sell

The Netherlands has no state Hajj office, so Dutch pilgrims register on hajj.nusuk.sa and buy the package from a licensed Saudi provider there; no Dutch agency can issue a Hajj visa or a Mina place. A Dutch travel company can sell the flights (Saudia lists a nonstop Amsterdam to Jeddah service), preparation and group travel around that booking. If you buy those extras, check that the company is covered by the SGR travel guarantee fund, which protects your money if it fails, and confirm the Hajj package itself is visible under your own Nusuk login before you pay for anything else. Compare Nusuk tiers on camp zone, hotel distance and room sharing, and the agency's fee on its own.

Umrah from Netherlands while you wait

Dutch citizens, like all EU nationals, are on the Saudi eVisa list and can apply directly on the official portal or Nusuk; the eVisa allows Umrah outside the Hajj season. Saudia flies nonstop from Amsterdam to Jeddah.

Saudi embassy and consulates in Netherlands

The Saudi Embassy in Netherlands is in The Hague. You do not need to visit them for a tourist eVisa or an Umrah visa: both are issued online. The embassy matters for passport problems, document attestation, and visa categories that are not electronic. Opening hours and services are on each mission's page at mofa.gov.sa.

Flying to Jeddah or Madinah from Netherlands

Saudia lists scheduled passenger flights from Amsterdam. Jeddah (King Abdulaziz International) is the gateway for Makkah; Madinah (Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International) suits pilgrims starting in Madinah. Gulf carriers, flynas, flyadeal and national airlines also serve these markets, often at lower fares with one stop.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Paying a "Hajj package" to an agent or individual outside Nusuk. For serviced countries the Ministry issues Hajj visas only through the platform, and pilgrims with outside bookings have been refused entry.
  • Waiting for prices to fall. Packages sell out in order of popularity, and the cheapest tiers go first.
  • Assuming an Umrah or tourist visa can be used for Hajj. It cannot.
  • Booking flights before the package is confirmed in your Nusuk account.

Practical tips

  • Check whether your agent is covered by a Dutch travel-industry bonding scheme such as SGR
  • Get references from an established mosque or Islamic center before booking
  • Confirm exactly what's included in the package before paying
  • Book early, popular group departures can fill quickly
  • Check the Nusuk Hajj platform directly as an alternative to a private agent
