How Hajj registration works in Singapore

Unlike most Muslim-minority Western countries, Singapore has a formal national system: the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) administers Hajj through its Hajj Fund (Tabung Haji-style savings scheme, run via MUIS's MyHaj system), which Singaporean Muslims contribute to over time to build eligibility. Because Singapore's quota is small relative to demand, applicants join a queue and are called up in order once they've met the Fund's requirements; MUIS also licenses a small number of accredited Hajj travel agents who bundle the officially allocated seats with travel and accommodation packages. MUIS publishes each year's package price, queue calls and registration requirements, and payment is typically made into the Hajj Fund over time rather than as a single lump sum shortly before travel.

Singapore is not on the Nusuk direct list. The Saudi Ministry allocated Singapore 900 places for Haj 2026 (1447 H), administered by MUIS on a first-come, first-served basis through MyHajSG. For 2026 MUIS invited applicants who had registered before 7 March 2014, required a Medical Health Certificate from a registered Singapore practitioner by 21 November 2025, and issued Letters of Offer on 1 December 2025. Register early on MyHajSG: the queue is measured in years, and the offer goes to the earliest registrations.

Step by step

  1. Register with Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura during its announced window; most countries open registration many months before Hajj and some run multi-year queues.
  2. If applications exceed the quota, wait for the lottery or queue result; keep your registration current each year if the system requires renewal.
  3. Choose between the government package and a licensed private operator's package where both exist, and pay only through the channels the authority names.
  4. Complete the medical examination and vaccinations in time for the visa file; the national mission submits your details to the Saudi Ministry and receives your visa and Nusuk card.
  5. Attend the pre-departure training and travel with your group on the scheduled flights.

Typical timeline

What it costs from Singapore

A single authoritative, currently sourced package price in Singapore dollars was not found in available reporting, MUIS publishes its own Hajj Fund package cost each year, and contributions build up over the saving period rather than being paid as one upfront cost. We point prospective pilgrims to MUIS's current Hajj Fund guidance or our calculator rather than quoting a figure here. Rather than guess, compare current licensed operators' published price lists side by side, since the main cost drivers, hotel distance from the Haram, flight class, and group size, vary more between operators than between years.

The drivers are the same everywhere: camp category in Mina, hotel distance from the Haram in Makkah and Madinah, room sharing, flights from Singapore, and whether meals and internal transport are bundled. See Hajj budgeting and shifting versus non-shifting packages.

How much does Hajj cost from Singapore?

MUIS publishes the package cost for each Hajj season, and for most Singaporean pilgrims the money is built up over years through the Hajj Fund rather than paid in one sum, so the figure to check is the current MUIS announcement, not a website estimate. What moves the price is the same as everywhere: the category of the Mina camp, the hotel's distance from the Haram in Makkah and Madinah, how many share a room, the number of nights, and the flight (Saudia lists a nonstop Singapore to Jeddah service, and Scoot has also operated the route). Book only with a MUIS-accredited Hajj travel agent and compare their published price lists side by side. The full walkthrough, including the MyHajSG queue and the 2026 timeline, is in Hajj from Singapore; the cost calculator gives a rough range in US dollars.

Umrah from Singapore while you wait

Singapore passport holders are on the Saudi eVisa list, so you can apply on the official portal or through Nusuk without an agent and perform Umrah on the eVisa outside the Hajj season. Saudia lists a nonstop Singapore to Jeddah service, which keeps short Umrah trips practical.

These are the Saudi Ministry of Health requirements for Umrah travellers in the 1447 H (2026) edition, read for Singapore specifically. The Hajj list is issued separately each season and is normally the same or stricter. Certificates are checked at the airport of departure and on arrival.

Saudi embassy and consulates in Singapore

The Saudi Embassy in Singapore is in Singapore. You do not need to visit them for a tourist eVisa or an Umrah visa: both are issued online. The embassy matters for passport problems, document attestation, and visa categories that are not electronic. Opening hours and services are on each mission's page at mofa.gov.sa.

Flying to Jeddah or Madinah from Singapore

Saudia lists nonstop Singapore (Changi) to Jeddah flights; Scoot has also operated the route.

Jeddah (King Abdulaziz International) is the gateway for Makkah; Madinah (Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International) suits pilgrims starting in Madinah. Gulf carriers, flynas, flyadeal and national airlines also serve these markets, often at lower fares with one stop.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Registering through a sub-agent who is not on the national authority's approved list.
  • Missing the payment deadline after selection; unpaid places are reallocated and several countries report thousands of missed visas each year.
  • Expecting to book Hajj on Nusuk directly. Singapore is not on the Nusuk serviced-countries list, so the national mission is the only route.
  • Leaving the medical file and vaccinations to the last month.

Practical tips

  • Join MUIS's Hajj Fund (MyHaj) as early as possible, queue position depends on it
  • Book only with a MUIS-accredited Hajj travel agent
  • Check your queue status directly through MUIS's official channels
  • Complete MUIS's required Hajj preparation course before departure
  • Budget contributions into the Hajj Fund over time rather than a single late payment
