How Hajj registration works in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's national quota is coordinated by the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan (Muftiate) together with the state Committee on Religious Affairs, which allocates places regionally by province and works through officially registered Hajj travel companies rather than allowing informal or unlicensed booking. Citizens apply through their regional mahalla (neighborhood) or mosque administration, or directly with a licensed operator, during an announced window; because demand generally exceeds the quota, regional allocation and queueing determine who travels each year, and applicants who miss one season often carry some priority into the next. Selected pilgrims are organized into official group caravans with an assigned leader, pay a published package price in installments, and travel on charter or scheduled flights coordinated between the Muftiate and Saudi authorities.

Uzbekistan carried 15,130 pilgrims for Hajj 2026 on 70 flights from nine cities, the first leaving Tashkent for Madinah on 2 May; Tashkent alone had 23 flights, with large groups from Namangan, Andijan and Fergana. Places are allocated regionally through the Muslim Board.

Step by step

  1. Register with Muslim Board of Uzbekistan during its announced window; most countries open registration many months before Hajj and some run multi-year queues.
  2. If applications exceed the quota, wait for the lottery or queue result; keep your registration current each year if the system requires renewal.
  3. Choose between the government package and a licensed private operator's package where both exist, and pay only through the channels the authority names.
  4. Complete the medical examination and vaccinations in time for the visa file; the national mission submits your details to the Saudi Ministry and receives your visa and Nusuk card.
  5. Attend the pre-departure training and travel with your group on the scheduled flights.

Typical timeline

What it costs from Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's licensed operators and the Muftiate publish an official package price each year in Uzbekistani som, which is not consistently reported in international press; we don't quote a figure here, check a licensed Hajj operator's current price list or our calculator. Rather than guess, compare current licensed operators' published price lists side by side, since the main cost drivers, hotel distance from the Haram, flight class, and group size, vary more between operators than between years.

The drivers are the same everywhere: camp category in Mina, hotel distance from the Haram in Makkah and Madinah, room sharing, flights from Uzbekistan, and whether meals and internal transport are bundled. See Hajj budgeting and shifting versus non-shifting packages.

Umrah from Uzbekistan while you wait

Uzbek passport holders were added to the Saudi eVisa list in August 2023, so you can apply on the official portal or Nusuk and perform Umrah on the eVisa outside the Hajj season; most Uzbeks still travel with licensed companies. Saudia does not list an Uzbek route; Uzbekistan Airways and Gulf carriers connect Tashkent with Jeddah and Madinah.

Vaccines and health documents for Hajj and Umrah from Uzbekistan

These are the Saudi Ministry of Health requirements for Umrah travellers in the 1447 H (2026) edition, read for Uzbekistan specifically. The Hajj list is issued separately each season and is normally the same or stricter. Certificates are checked at the airport of departure and on arrival.

Meningococcal (ACYW) vaccineRequired for every pilgrim from every country: conjugate vaccine within 5 years, or polysaccharide within 3 years, given at least 10 days before arrival.

Yellow feverNot required for travellers arriving from Uzbekistan. It applies only if you arrive from a listed yellow fever country.

Saudi embassy and consulates in Uzbekistan

The Saudi Embassy in Uzbekistan is in Tashkent. You do not need to visit them for a tourist eVisa or an Umrah visa: both are issued online. The embassy matters for passport problems, document attestation, and visa categories that are not electronic. Opening hours and services are on each mission's page at mofa.gov.sa.

Flying to Jeddah or Madinah from Uzbekistan

Saudia's published network does not include a passenger route from Uzbekistan, so most pilgrims connect once through a Gulf, Turkish, European or regional hub, or travel on a national or charter carrier arranged for the Hajj season. Book the arrival airport that matches your itinerary: Jeddah if you start in Makkah, Madinah if you start there.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Registering through a sub-agent who is not on the national authority's approved list.
  • Missing the payment deadline after selection; unpaid places are reallocated and several countries report thousands of missed visas each year.
  • Expecting to book Hajj on Nusuk directly. Uzbekistan is not on the Nusuk serviced-countries list, so the national mission is the only route.
  • Leaving the medical file and vaccinations to the last month.

Practical tips

  • Register through your regional mahalla/mosque administration or an officially licensed Hajj company
  • Confirm your operator is on the Muftiate's approved list before paying
  • Ask about your group's caravan leader and flight arrangements ahead of departure
  • Complete required medical checks and vaccinations ahead of the deadline
  • Budget for payment in installments, as is standard practice with licensed operators
