When Nusuk Hajj Packages Go on Sale
There is no permanent calendar date for Nusuk Hajj packages. Registration for each season opens when the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announces it, and the announcement has generally come in the months following the previous Hajj rather than shortly before the next one. For recent seasons that has meant an autumn opening for a Hajj the following summer.
That gap matters. People who assume they can book in the spring often find the packages they wanted are gone. This guide explains how a season runs, why the exact date is not fixed, and what you can do now so that when the announcement comes you are choosing a package rather than scrambling for a password. For the dates themselves, watch the official platform at hajj.nusuk.sa and the ministry's own announcements.
The short answer
Packages appear on the platform when the season opens, which is announced by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. In recent seasons that announcement has come well ahead of Hajj itself, commonly in the autumn before a summer Hajj, and bookings have then run over a period rather than in a single burst.
Because dates move with the Hijri calendar and with ministry decisions, treat that pattern as a shape rather than a promise. The practical advice that follows from it is the same either way: be account-ready and decision-ready before the announcement, because the work you can do in advance is the work that takes the longest.
How a Nusuk season runs
For pilgrims in the countries Saudi Arabia serves directly, the sequence generally runs like this.
| Stage | What happens | What you should be doing |
|---|---|---|
| After the previous Hajj | The ministry prepares the coming season | Create or check your account, renew your passport, start saving |
| Registration opens | Accounts can register interest and packages are published as providers load them | Complete identity verification, read the tiers, shortlist |
| Booking period | Pilgrims select a package and pay, sometimes in stages | Book the tier you decided on, not the one you are pushed towards |
| After booking | The Hajj visa follows the confirmed booking | Arrange flights if not included, and start preparing seriously |
| Months before Hajj | Final arrangements and health requirements | Training, vaccinations, learning the rites |
The step people underestimate is identity verification, which can take time and is where an expired passport or a name mismatch surfaces. Our Nusuk Hajj registration guide covers the account setup in order, and Nusuk Hajj login and account problems covers what to do when it will not cooperate.
Why the date is not fixed
Three reasons, all of them outside your control.
- The Hijri calendar moves. Hajj falls roughly eleven days earlier each year against the Gregorian calendar, so the whole season shifts with it.
- Quotas and arrangements are set each season. The ministry confirms allocations, providers and services before packages can be published.
- Providers load packages at their own pace. What is available in the first days of a season is not everything that will appear.
That last point is worth holding on to. If your preferred tier is not listed on the day registration opens, it may simply not be loaded yet. Panic-booking something you did not want is a common and expensive mistake.
Being ready before it opens
Everything in this list can be done months before any announcement, and each item removes a delay later.
- Create and verify your account. Do it early, so verification problems surface when there is time to fix them.
- Check your passport. It must be valid well beyond the season. Renewal queues lengthen closer to Hajj.
- Decide your budget honestly. Including flights if they are not in the package. The budgeting guide helps, and the cost calculator shows how choices move the total.
- Decide your priorities. For most pilgrims the order is tent distance at Mina, then hotel distance, then room occupancy. Write yours down. Nusuk Hajj package tiers explains what the tiers actually differ on, and what is included in a Hajj package lists the lines to check.
- Agree who is travelling. Family bookings are harder to change than to decide.
- Get your money accessible. A card that can make a large international payment, with the bank told in advance.
- Check health requirements early with your doctor, because some vaccinations need planning.
What happens when packages appear
When the season opens, do three things in this order.
First, log in and confirm your account is fully verified, before you look at anything. Second, read the package details rather than the tier name: camp zone at Mina, hotel names and distances, room occupancy, meals, transport. Third, compare against the priorities you wrote down in advance, not against the marketing.
Then book. Places in popular tiers do move, and hesitation costs more than a careful hour does. What you should not do is upgrade under pressure or pay outside the platform. If it is not in your account, you have not booked it, whatever anyone promises. See Hajj scams and how to avoid them.
It also helps to know what an opening is not. It is not a first-come race decided in the opening minutes, and it is not a period in which a package must be bought the same day it appears. Pilgrims who treat it as either tend to buy the wrong tier and regret it for the whole season. The realistic picture is a window of some weeks in which the better-located camps and the closer hotels fill earlier than the rest, so being prepared buys you choice rather than survival. The pilgrims who do best are those who decided their priorities and their budget months earlier and simply act on a decision they have already made.
If you are booking for parents or for a group, agree in advance who presses the button and what the limit is. A family that has to hold a discussion at the moment a package appears is a family that ends up with a compromise nobody chose.
If the package you wanted is gone
- Check again later in the season. Providers load packages over time, and cancellations occur.
- Consider an adjacent tier rather than an unfamiliar provider. Compare on tent and hotel distance, not on the label.
- Reconsider your priorities. A longer walk in Makkah is easier to bear than a longer walk at Mina, for most people.
- Do not buy from a third party claiming to hold places. They cannot transfer a booking to you.
- Plan for the following season if nothing suitable remains. A year of saving and training is not a loss. Hajj 2027 dates and planning sets out how far ahead to work.
How to watch for the announcement
Check the official platform and the ministry's announcements directly. Community organisations in countries served by Nusuk Hajj often relay news reliably too, and the good ones will always point you back to the platform rather than offering to book for you.
Be careful with social media. Every season brings posts claiming registration is closing today or that a group has secured places. Verify anything urgent against the platform before acting on it, and never follow a payment link from a message. Country walkthroughs are available for the USA, the UK and Europe, and the registration guide explains which countries use Nusuk Hajj and which use a national mission.
