Hajj Registration Guide
Hajj registration is a permit process before it is a booking. Depending on your country, you either register on the Nusuk Hajj platform and select a package, or apply through a national authority that allocates a quota, sometimes by lottery. This guide explains both routes and the documents to have ready.
Nusuk Hajj (many Western countries)
Pilgrims from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, most of Europe and several other countries register on Nusuk Hajj, verify identity, and choose from packages offered by licensed providers. Demand exceeds supply; registering early and having payment ready matters.
National quota systems
Countries with large Muslim populations run their own systems: India's Haj Committee, Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs scheme, Indonesia's long waiting list, Nigeria's state boards and others. Applications, deposits and selection follow national rules and calendars.
Documents to prepare
- Passport valid well beyond the Hajj dates.
- Photographs to specification.
- Vaccination certificates (meningitis and others as required).
- Proof of payment or deposit.
- For women in some systems, mahram details.
Selection and lottery
Where demand exceeds quota, selection may be by lottery or waiting list. Not being selected one year often improves the position for the next.
If you are not selected
Keep the application active, confirm you are on the waiting list, and consider Umrah in the meantime. Avoid unofficial offers of Hajj visas; they are the basis of most Hajj scams.
Country walkthroughs are available for Singapore, Pakistan and Europe. If your country books through Nusuk Hajj, read when Nusuk Hajj packages go on sale and how to fix login and account problems before the season opens.
